The IMESD employs staff to conduct Child Find activities for children ages birth to 5 who have suspected delays for the purpose of determining their eligibility for Early Intervention or Early Childhood Special Education services. When children are ages birth to school age, evaluations are conducted in all areas of suspected disability. There is a fixed point of referral – there is a dedicated phone line where referrals are made, and there is the capability of referral and evaluation services in Spanish, sign language or another language other than English.
