Meet Ryan Rudolf, High School Fire Science Teacher at Ione School District.
What do you teach? Last school year, I had the opportunity to add a Fire Science class to our school schedule. I have a background in Wildland Firefighting (many summers working for the Oregon Department of Forestry) and thought that would be a cool class to teach high school students and offer something that isn’t in many schools in Oregon.
What is your district’s CTE focus during the 22-23 school year? Ione’s CTE focus is built around Agriculture and Shop classes. We try to expand class options for students, and I think Fire Science is one of the ways we are doing that.
How do you think CTE is making a difference for students in your district? I believe it is giving students opportunities to take multiple classes within our CTE classes and helping them to find out what they want to pursue after high school.
