Pendleton, OR – On October 21st and 22nd, the Oregon Trail Regional Educator Network (REN) and Intermountain Education Service District welcomed the Educator Advancement Council (EAC) for a site visit. The Educator Advancement Council governs Oregon’s 10 Regional Educator Networks. Established in 2017, the Oregon Legislature created Regional Educator Networks in order to support school districts across the state by providing high-quality professional learning and support for educators. The goal of the RENs is to positively impact student learning outcomes and educator retention by helping support educators across the career continuum.
During the site visit, the Oregon Trail REN (OTREN) showcased many of the programs they provide that are funded through this grant. The Oregon Trail REN featured their mentorship program, which is designed to support educators and administrators in their first three years of service. OTREN also highlighted their partnership with the Eastern Oregon University Reading Clinic, which provides literacy instruction rooted in the Science of Reading, to educators across the region. Finally, OTREN shared about the impact of regional training series designed to support counselors, paraeducators, CTE instructors, and school teams working to achieve collective efficacy in instructional practice.
The event drew 60 attendees and included a mix of EAC Council members and REN employees from across the state.
