hands together

Our thoughts go out to the Uvalde, Texas, community for their tragic loss yesterday. While violent incidents such as this are difficult to comprehend or explain, we understand these events affect students and school staff.

Here are a few research-based recommendations to consider during a difficult time like this:

  • Talk with children if they have concerns and focus on what they CAN do.
  • Limit access to social media, especially for young children.
  • If you notice something regarding potential school violence, report concerns to local authorities or use the SafeOregon tip line at www.safeoregon.com.
  • If you, or someone you know, needs mental health support, reach out to community resources or your family health provider.

As the 21-22 school year winds down, IMESD remains committed to supporting our staff and school districts. Take care of yourself and your family.
