The InterMountain Education Service District is proud to celebrate Jaman Ipolito Maloy, a 3^rd grade teacher at Echo School, who has been named the InterMountain Regional Teacher of the Year. He is one of 17 Regional Teachers of the Year announced by the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) in partnership with the Oregon Lottery, and is now a semi-finalist for 2026-27 Oregon Teacher of the Year.

Maloy was surprised with the honor during an all-school assembly at Echo School on Wednesday, September 23.

A colleague who nominated him praised his balance of structure and warmth, saying he maintains clear, consistent expectations "while delivering them with genuine care." In his own nomination, Ipolito Maloy shared his approach to teaching: "When students are excited about their learning, they build confidence and understanding. My role as an educator is to create these opportunities so every student can experience success and begin to love learning."

Regional winners were selected through a nomination, application, and review process facilitated by Oregon's Education Service Districts. Each Regional Teacher of the Year receives a $1,000 award from the Oregon Lottery. The 2026-27 Oregon Teacher of the Year will be announced later this fall.
